Our Venue Management In Practice

Our Green Project & Sustainable Venues

Our committed staff at City Recital Hall Angel Place have recently rolled out "Our Green Project" initiative as part of Pegasus Venue Management's Environmental Sustainability Plan for Venues.

Pegasus is aware that we have a responsibility to play a role in combating climate change. As individuals and as an organisation, we're committed to working towards a vibrant, healthy and clean environment in which to live and work. We are seeking to:

  1. Improve energy and water efficiency
  2. Reduce demand for natural resources
  3. Reduce waste and increase recycling
  4. Reduce pollution and emissions to air, land and water

Further to an intense screening process, we have selected internationally respect, Australia-based, carbon reduction and management company Climate Friendly™ to help implement a long-term carbon footprint measurement and offset strategy.

"By measuring and offsetting their carbon footprint, City Recital Hall is demonstrating its commitment to a triple-bottom line approach to business, where the planet, our community and profits are equally important" - Climate Friendly CEO, Freddy Sharpe.

We believe that venue hirers can also gain significant advantage through proactively communicating their climate change action to stakeholders. We actively encourage customers to develop a communication activity around offsetting their emissions associated with their business or event. We shall continue to work with Climate Friendly to benchmark our carbon footprint reductions through carbon accounting and regular measurement.

This graph depicts how many green house gas emissions we have offset this financial year.

Pegasus do not just simply offset carbon emissions for events at our venues. We seek to decrease our impact on the environment throughout our operations. Our sustainable venues include (but are not limited to) initiatives which address:

  • Energy efficiency - including the installation of energy efficient globes, motion sensors and air-conditioning upgrades which allow for room isolation.
  • Waste minimisation and recycling - where possible, Pegasus avoids generating waste in all operations. However, when this is not feasible, Pegasus has developed protocols that has resulted in significant waste minimisation and a significant proportion of waste being recycled. For example, Pegasus has reduced paper usage in offices by close to 60%. All bottles, cans, glass and paper are sent for recycling and hazardous materials are disposed of responsibly (e.g. printing cartridges and batteries are collated and then collected by appropriate disposal agents).
